Description
The elegant Japanese Satsuma pottery coffee and tea service comprising six tea bowls and saucers, coffee pot with cover, sugar, and milk jug with cover all decorated in overglaze enamels and gilding detailing vignettes of figures in stylized landscapes, against a ground of formal designs, many pieces marked with the circular factory logo of Gyokushu factory to the base. Circa late 19th to early 20th century.
A vessel of ovoid form raised on tripod legs with a pierced, domed cover bearing a crouching Dog of Foo is included. It has a Satsuma signature panel on the base.
Teapot measures 6.5 x 7 inches.
