'One day in August of 2013, Rick Bartow's life changed, yet again, forever. Each traumatic experience - the death of his father at a young age; the massacre of his tribe, the Wiyots, in 1860 and his absorption of that pain and responsibility; his military service in the Vietnam War and ensuing PTSD; his struggle with alcoholism; the death of his beloved wife Julie from breast cancer; and his more recent health crises - (had) left a permanent psychological scar and deeply informed his life and art. He had suffered a minor stroke a few years earlier, but this time was different... Within four days after the stroke, Bartow was back in the studio. Condition
Good condition overall. Some minor handling creases to the paper. The paper with deckled edges. An approximately 12in x 3/4in area of surface loss to paper along the lower left edge. An approximately 1/2 x 3in triangular loss to the paper in the extreme lower left corner.
