The Cirque Medrano on Blvd de Rochechouart in Paris, named for clown Geronimo Medrano (Boum-Boum).
Manfred Schwartz (1909 Lodz - 1970 NY): a Polish-born American abstract painter, lithographer and an art dealer. Educated at the Sorbonne, the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere, the Art Students League of New York, and the National Academy of Design in New York, where he studied with Charles Hawthorne, John Sloan, and George Bridgman. His gallery was first to exhibit Milton Avery and Elshemius, the works of Chaim Gross, Ben Benn and Waldo Peirce. Schwartz was first vice president of the Federation of Modern Painters and Sculptors. Works are in the permanent collections of the Guggenheim, the MOMA, the Metropolitan, the Brooklyn Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Newark and Rochester Museums.
