[history] Daniel Bartoli. DELL' HISTORIA DELLA COMPAGNIA DI GIESU L'ASIA. PARTE PRIMA. Rome: Nella Stamperia d'Ignatio de' Lazzeri, 1653. First edition. Stiff vellum with modern ties, manuscript and raised bands on spine. Foilo; [6], 904, [8]pp. With engraved frontispiece after title page, index, printed marginalia, ornaments, and decorated initials. De Backer-Sommervogel 1/970. (Vellum with edgewear, staining, and mild discoloration, repair at head of spine, lacking headband; separation from textblock starting, cracking at hinges; occasional wormhole concentrated at hinges, pages lightly toned with scattered foxing, occasional small stain or light grime; frequent damp staining; one leaf with long tear, (2) with inexpert repairs, one with significant loss to lower margin.)

Roman type; text in Latin., USTC 4033963.(Vellum with staining and small area of residue, slight separation from textblock and some wear at head and tail bands; staining, foxing and light wear at endpapers, title page for first book with slight fraying, pages with light to moderate toning and scattered foxing, occasional staining and residue with heaviest toning and residue at final index; most pages quite bright and crisp; very good.)

(Expected light wear to vellum; endpapers with small stamp, faint manuscript on title page; interior lightly toned with occasional fraying and grime, minimal foxing, with damp staining, soiling, and small wormholes beginning at quire T; S8v with last line pasted down, pages overall bright and clean.)
