Scipione Ammirato (Italy, 1531-1601) was a Renaissance author and historian. He was prolific, writing many important works discussing literature, the genealogy of important Italian families, politics, and the history of Florence. His Florentine Histories was originally published in two parts, the first just before he died, and the second four decades later in 1641. In 1647, the first part of Histories was reprinted in an expanded version in two volumes (Grässe).
