Description
An old silver plated soup spoon was cut down and pierced, then molded and re-cast in brass and finally plated with sterling silver.
The earrings measures 2 1/2" long by 1 3/4" wide and the ear wires are solid sterling silver.
Marked, "AJ" for "Alberto Juan".
Available as sterling silver($480), 18 kt gold vermeil sterling silver ($500), and 18 kt gold plated brass ($250) and with the polish of your choice (polished or antiqued).
From the earliest of times people have worn their wealth. It wasn't until after World War 2 that the use of sterling silverware declined, mainly because so many Europeans lost their wealth and sterling silverware was primarily used by the nobility.
From that point onward, many American manufacturers began to produce steel silverware, which was more affordable.
With this over production of silver plated and steel/nickel silverware many artists of the 1960's up to today have used these utensils as the basis for their work.
From this primordial state, I've incorporated our Bedouin nature with our mid-20th century production of silverware to bring you my 9th collection of silverware inspired jewelry.
