The upper section with pierced open gallery above the fall-front with cube parquetry flanked with ribbon-tied hanging floral mounts, opening to reveal a fitted interior with three drawers and pull out gilt-tooled leather-lined writing surface, above a single frieze drawer with central classical relief mount of satyrs and beaded encadrements with wreath hoop handles either side, on tapering fluted legs ending in toupie feet, lock stamped 'CT LINKE/ SERRURERIE/ 202'

Lot Essay
This secrétaire à cylindre in the Louis XVI style, is a loose variant of the bureau with mother-of-pearl trellis marquetry made by Riesener for Marie-Antoinette's boudoir at Fontainebleau in 1786. The exhibition of the original bureau at the retrospective Exposition de l'union centrale des arts décoratifs was the inspiration for late 19th century copies of the model by leading Parisian ébénistes, such as Beurdeley, Dasson, Linke and Durand.
