In founding Alchimia in 1976, one of the most vibrant groups in the evolution of post avant-garde Italian design, he established his place in the long history of artists whose influence is still evident today. Working with the likes of Alessandro Mendini, Andrea Branzi and Ettore Sottsass, in 1982 Alchimia was awarded the Compasso d'Oro for research in design. Among the most important installations completed by the studio is the Stanza Del Secolo in the Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara, the Mobile Infinito at the Museum of Moden Art of Tokyo and the Fin-de-Siecle room at the Centre George Pompidou. With Alchimia, he published numerous books and collaborated in the art direction of DOMUS. His more recent architectural work includes the Casa della Felicita (House of Happiness) for the Alessi Family in Omegna and The Art Museum of Groningen, Holland - a collaboration with Alessandro Mendini, Michele de Lucchi, Philippe Starck and Coop Himelblau. In 1987 he founded the DOMUS Academy, a post-graduate industrial design and fashion place of learning and in 1996, after having opened his new atelier, Radiosity, he began working with Tobia Scarpa, on the Benetton Museum with Oliviero Toscani which opened in 2018. He was appointed President of the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arte of Milan.
