Description
A romantic prince of great irresolution, he postponed promised reforms. He reigned from 1840 to 1848. Forced by the revolution of 1848, he granted a liberal constitution, which he subsequently amended. He refused the imperial crown and supported the policy of Little Germany led by his minister Radowitz.
