American (New York), dated 1840. Wool in blue (indigo) and white. The border with spread-eagles holding olive branches flanking a federal building with 19 stars above. Medallion center field and numerous fraternal (masonic) columns. The corner block woven, "Agriculture & Manufactures are the Foundation of Our Independence. July 4, 1840." Woven with "Jane A.
