Item Details

Description

Exceptional and superbly incised ovoid storage jar with mottled amber running glaze features a short, almost vertical everted neck and flanged lip. The upper body and shoulder are incised with very fine parallel lines to form repeating sets of line and cross-hatched patterns to form diamond shapes.15 x 12 inches. There is damage to the lip as shown in the images. two small lugs rest on the shoulder. 13/16th Century, Southern China. Provenance; Shippensburg University
