Description
Eastern Europe, 19th/20th Century. An icon of the Dormition of the Theotokos, Mother of God, painted on wood, with beaded and faux jeweled shroud, the red velvet altar cloths beaded and trimmed, with ornate foil liner having a white-painted dove and embellished with red and blue faux flowers, in rounded-corner shadowbox frame/kiot; 12" x 13 1/2" x 3 3/8". Condition: the glass missing, replaced with plastic; the kiot with scattered wormholes and wear commensurate with age. Provenance: Private Collection; Northern California.
