Jean Pascaud, renowned French designer, and interior decorator, designed the reception and entrance hall for L'institut Harriet Hubbard Ayer et Alexandre de Paris, faubourg Saint-Honoré, where the present Georges Jouve, important and unique pair of Caryatides were eloquently positioned next to decorative interior entrance grilles, designed by Gilbert Poillerat. This sophisticated trichotomy of designers created works which were part of the impressive and exquisite reception interior, which opened onto a staircase of noble proportions executed in Comblanchien stone, with the reception area surrounded by dark green lacquered furniture mirroring the emerald viridescence of the Jouve's resplendent and cynosure Caryatides. Harriet Hubbard Ayer, was born 1849, in Chicago, Illinois and was a socialite, founding one of the first cosmetic's company in the United States, in 1886, the Recamier Manufacturing Company, 25 Union Square, New York, incorporated in 1887, which addressed all female beauty endeavours of the day. Hubbard Ayer was also an accomplished journalist, the highest paid female journalist in the United States, and in 1899, she published a bestseller titled, A Complete and Authentic Treatise on the Laws of Health and Beauty. Hubbard Ayer was a proto-feminist, extremely cosmopolitan, and travelled extensively in Europe, she was also an early pioneer of product endorsement collaborating with celebrities, associating them with her products. Jouve's work has appeared in many interiors and architectural installations, he has created a myriad of forms and innovatory glazes. Jean Pascaud was a student of the Ecole Centrale des Arts et Manufacture, he has designed the interiors of many private apartments and mansions, along with several embassies and other public buildings, including the decorating and furnishing of stores, retailing luxury goods. Pascaud's collaborations with designers and artist's such as Georges Jouve and Gilbert Poillerat reveal his innate ability to place works together with pride, but without too great a prominence creating harmony within his interiors, which is clearly defined at L'institut Harriet Hubbard Ayer et Alexandre de Paris.
