Two books being Alexander Pope's translation of Homer, and Pope's letters: ** Homer; Pope, Alexander. THE ILIAD OF HOMER. Edinburgh: Hamilton, Balfour, and Neili, 1761, 12mo. With engraved frontis portrait, 511, [1] pp. Period calf, wanting title label. A very scarce edition.** NEW LETTERS OF MR. ALEXANDER POPE. London, 1737. 8vo. Being the 5th volume of Pope's Literary Correspondence but issued here separately with new title and frontis portrait.
Condition
First work: Hinges cracked but boards secure, wear to extremities. Title a bit soiled and with offsetting from frontis, one leaf noted with short closed tear to margin, one corner with old paper repair, else clean.
Second work: Covers soiled, corners rounded, title toned, frontis with repair to blank recto, light to moderate foxing throughout. This work not collated though appears complete.
