Period brown marbled paper over boards.****** A working autograph manuscript libretto for Mehul's opera "Uthal," with extensive corrections throughout. Franz Carl Hiemer, also Franz Karl Hiemer (1768– 1822) was a German painter, librettist and actor.Mehul’s "Uthal" with a libretto by Jacques-Benjamin-Maximilien Bins de Saint-Victor was first performed in May of 1806 in Paris; the earliest documented German performance took place in Stuttgart later in the same year, with the libretto translated by Franz Karl Hiemer.From the library of the Royal House of Hanover with a red cypher stamp on the title-page, and from a larger collection of books deaccessioned from the Royal Library at Hanover in the 1990s.
