Description
Leaf from the 1551 printing of Tyndale's "Matthews Bible." [London, Bonham, 151]. 11.5" x 7.5". Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from The bible Museum, signed by Dr. Craig Lampe. The present leaf is from the book of Psalms, containing Psalms 90 and 91, and portion of 89 and 92. Contains many widley regarded verses, such as "Who so dwelleth under the defence of the most hyest...." Of some interest to modern scholars is Psalm 91, which Dr. Michael Heiser argued was a prayer of exorcism or protection, as it was found bundled with 4 other such Psalms among the Dead Sea Scrolls. Heiser also notes that Satan quotes from Psalm 91 during his temptation of Jesus in the New Testament, "For he shal geve his angels charge over the, to kepe the in all they wayes...." An important leaf from this rare Bible.
