Description
Muller Freres Art Nouveau Domed Chandelier
Purple “Pate de Verre” glass and bronze chandelier with domed center by Muller Freres, Luneville. It is signed in the glass on the side of the center dome piece. This is approx 26" x 26" x 25 1/2" and it weighs 17.5lbs. Untested. The light fixture is in a good, vintage condition with some scratches on the glass and an age-appropriate patina on the metal. Please see the image as they are part of the description.
From Artnet:
Muller Frères (Co.) was an esteemed French glassmaking company based in Luneville, France, famous for its Art Nouveau vases, lampshades, and chandeliers, which often incorporate layered and colored glass. Their workshop was established by Henri Muller and his brothers in 1895 after they trained with Émile Gallé—who would retain a grudge against Muller for setting up a rival enterprise. In 1910, the company began making lamps in association with Chapelle and, at its height, employed around 300 workers. Production was stopped in 1933 and the factory closed three years later, a victim of the Great Depression.
