Little is known about the life of the artist. There is an early reference to the work of Giuseppe Mazzolini in the Diario di Roma of 1828 (vol. 53). Mazzolini is also referenced in A. M. Comanducci, Illustrated Dictionary of Artists, Designers and Engravers - Italian Modern and Contemporary. A 1915 archive references two painting by Mazzolini in the U.S. National Museum: "From Dr. Nathan Boyd, of Washington, copy of Titian's portrait of his daughter, and Portrait of Beatrice Cenci, by G. Mazzolini." Source: Annual Report of the U. S. National Museum - 1915 (now known as the Smithsonian). Rider's "Washington: A Guide Book for Travelers" (1924) mentions Mazzolini's paintings in the National Museum. "Like many of their contemporaries, the Skerretts' preferred the classical and late Renaissance art of Italy. In Rome, Anna and Fanny's portraits were painted by Giuseppe Mazzolini after the style of Titian." Source: County House of the Armat Family - The Years 1801-1835 - by Mark Bower.
