ENGLISH BRASS STANDISH / INKSTAND, oval-form tray raised on four short curved legs, top fitted with a medial candle holder which is riveted to a cover of open container top and lower edge and foot each with ribbing, each side of candle holder fitted with a covered container and including one with an interior scalloped edge, covers with matching light engraving in a bead and floral pattern, stand, containers and candlestick each with matching turned double-lines. Fourth quarter 18th century. 4 1/4" HOA, tray 4 7/8" x 7 1/8" overall.

Deaccessioned by the Valentine Museum, Richmond, VA to benefit collections care, preservation, and future acquisitions.
Condition
Very good condition with expected wear, some light denting and some scattered corrosion areas, one container with roughness and probably lacking screen, candle socket slightly loose on cover, tray sits slightly uneven and interior with a small spot of roughness.
