Djenne Vessel, Circa 18th to 19th century. Glazed terra cotta with mineral deposits. This large red and white pot is adorned with incised geometric designs. Measures approximately 21" x 17" in diameter. In fair condition with erosion to the opening. This item originates from the estate of John A. Williams, a distinguished philanthropist and renowned collector. Mr. Williams and his partner Dewitt Hart were influential members of San Francisco's art society and were celebrated for their discerning taste in modern, ethnographic, and fine art. Over the years, they hosted numerous exhibitions in their home, showcasing their prestigious collection to appreciative audiences. All proceeds of items from this estate benefit the Hart Williams Rainbow Fund, a nonprofit working with the LGBTQIA+ community in the San Francisco Bay Area.
