Description
Chinese Painted Wood Wardrobe, circa 19th century with later additions. This wardrobe features two doors and an interior fitted with shelves, complemented by three side-by-side surbase drawers with hardware. It's designed with panel sides and raised on bracketed block legs. The piece includes later painted landscape details. Measures approximately 80" x 44 3/4" x 19 3/4". Overall paint losses and indistinct detailing. This item originates from the estate of John A. Williams, a distinguished philanthropist and renowned collector. Mr. Williams and his partner Dewitt Hart were influential members of San Francisco's art society and were celebrated for their discerning taste in modern, ethnographic, and fine art. Over the years, they hosted numerous exhibitions in their home, showcasing their prestigious collection to appreciative audiences. All proceeds of items from this estate benefit the Hart Williams Rainbow Fund, a nonprofit working with the LGBTQIA+ community in the San Francisco Bay Area.
