Acrylic and Polymer on Canvas by Roy De Forest (American, 1930-2007), titled "Canoe of Fate", 1982. This captivating piece features an array of human, animal, and fantastical figures set within a richly colored and intricately patterned landscape. The canvas measures approximately 72" x 83". On the verso, it is signed, dated, and titled in black paint as "Roy De Forest 1982, Canoe of Fate, Polymer Paint, (Varnished, (Acyriloid [sic] B-67)". Come with original receipt from Fuller Goldeen Gallery, San Francisco. Dated March 19th, 1983. Fuller Goldeen Gallery hosted Roy De Forest's solo exhibitions in 1981, 1982, 1984, and 1986. This item originates from the estate of John A. Williams, a distinguished philanthropist and renowned collector. Mr. Williams and his partner Dewitt Hart were influential members of San Francisco's art society and were celebrated for their discerning taste in modern, ethnographic, and fine art. Over the years, they hosted numerous exhibitions in their home, showcasing their prestigious collection to appreciative audiences. All proceeds of items from this estate benefit the Hart Williams Rainbow Fund.
