Description
Pigment and Solar Burn on Vellum by Jay McCafferty (American, 1948-2021), "Deductive Instinct", 1979. This abstract composition features amorphous forms in tones of mauve, red, grey, black, brown, and ivory, with accents of green, reserved against a toned brown-rust ground. The sheet measures approximately 60" x 61" and 66 1/4" x 66 1/4" framed. Come with original receipt from Grapestake Gallery, San Francisco. Dated February 18th, 1982. This item originates from the estate of John A. Williams, a distinguished philanthropist and renowned collector. Mr. Williams and his partner Dewitt Hart were influential members of San Francisco's art society and were celebrated for their discerning taste in modern, ethnographic, and fine art. Over the years, they hosted numerous exhibitions in their home, showcasing their prestigious collection to appreciative audiences. All proceeds of items from this estate benefit the Hart Williams Rainbow Fund, a nonprofit working with the LGBTQIA+ community in the San Francisco Bay Area.
