Description
Pair of George IV-Style 3-Light Silver Plate Candelabra, circa the second half of the 19th century. Each candelabrum features a torchiere standard with gadroon edges, raised on a molded stepped circular base. They are fitted with a removable three-light scrolling canopy. The edge of the foot is stamped with a crown and a four-petal flower. Although the maker's mark has not been traced, it bears similarity to pieces by Wm. Rodgers & Sons, Sheffield. Each candelabrum measures approximately 20" tall assembled. In good condition consistent with age and use. This item originates from the estate of John A. Williams, a distinguished philanthropist and renowned collector. Mr. Williams and his partner Dewitt Hart were influential members of San Francisco's art society and were celebrated for their discerning taste in modern, ethnographic, and fine art. All proceeds of items from this estate benefit the Hart Williams Rainbow Fund, a nonprofit working with the LGBTQIA+ community in the San Francisco Bay Area.
