Description
FRENCH SEVRES-STYLE ORMOLU-MOUNTED PORCELAIN LARGE BOLTED COVERED URN, three sections, having polychrome hand-painted decorations on cream ground, one side featuring an amorous scene depicting a sitting young woman gazing at two love birds with cupid sitting on her shoulder, signed "G. Poitevin" (France, 1850-1910), and reverse depicting ruins adjacent to serene blue water and overgrown with ivy, having bronze winged angel bust-form handles. Marks include blue hand-brushed double L cartouche mark with "BB" to center and "S" below and red-printed "BAILEY / BANKS & BIDDLE / PHILADELPHIA" to underside of cover. Fourth quarter 19th century. 22 1/8" HOA.

Condition
Mostly undamaged condition, except angel mounts loose and bolted finial having some flakes to exterior where it meets the cover, bolt probably a repair.
