Description
Hermann Dietrich, American, 1916 to 2003, an oil on canvas painting depicting a portrait of a lady playing the lute, 1969. Signed by the artist lower right. Has a commemorative inscription addressed to Rudy on the backside, additionally signed and dated. Note: Hermann Dietrich studied art in Chicago, and then in San Francisco, where by 1939 he was executing designs for projects relating to the Golden Gate International Exposition. A few years later Dietrich began a long run in Los Angeles, working for the entertainment industry giants, such as 20th Century Fox, Paramount Studios, Goldwyn, and Disney. After the war, he began to undertake a number of design projects for commercial sites such as hotels, banks, and even the S.S.
