Description: Lithographed folding panorama on 18 b&w sheets plus colored title sheet, on backing paper as issued, connected accordion-style. Each sheet measures 18.5x47.5 cm including the backing paper, the panorama exclusive of the title sheet measures approx. 855 cm in length, over 28 feet. Folded into original boards measuring 20x49.5 cm (8x19½").Marvelously detailed panorama of the Elbe River, crowded with ships, boats and pleasure craft, and its right bank with many fine buildings and houses, along the 15 km or so between Hamburg and the suburb of Blankenese. The title is also given in English and French, the English reading "A Panorama of the right bank of the Elbe from Hamburg to Blankenese... Drawn from nature by T.B. Wilms; the Vessels by E. Husse; lithographed by J.W. Vox." OCLC locates only four copies, one noted as being hand colored.

Condition
Boards worn with staining, loose, leather spine perished, fragments of ribbon ties remaining; moderate foxing within mostly affecting backing paper, marginal staining in places, a few short tears or splits at seams; the panorama itself in very good condition.
