Tappan (1752-1803) was a well-known clergyman of his time and had many of his sermons published during his lifetime. He was a strong supporter of the American Revolution and later the French Revolution. Moses Parsons was the father of Theophilus Parsons, a Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Court.
