Description
After Claude Michel Clodion (French, 1738-1814), "Kissing Her Hand," 19th c., patinated bronze group, presented on a stepped figured black marble base, signed "Claudion" on the proper left rear top of the bronze, H.- 13 1/2 in., W.- 16 in., D.- 8 in.
Condition
In overall very good condition no losses to the edges of the marble plinth. No losses or repairs. Heavy with good casting and excellent patina. All cast bronzes are copies from an original mold. Clodion, a master sculptor whose works were highly regarded in France, died in 1814. Following his death, numerous late 19th/early 20th century bronzes were cast after favorite Classical and Rococo works.
