Black painted steel sign, 10" x 7", the light gold lettering reading: "Juden sind hier unerwunscht" ("Jews are not wanted here"). Such signs were used to make it clear that the owner of the establishment chose to bar Jews from his business, and was in any case an ardent supporter of the Nazi cause. Such signs were the earliest of the many measures taken to exclude Jews from public life in Germany, culminating in their deportation to concentration camps.
