Description
A COLLECTION OF TWELEVE VICTORIAN FRAMED STEREOGRAPHIC VIEWS OF IRELAND printed photographs from the 18760/70's possibly by William Lawrence and others, entitled 'Gems of Irish Scenery' the Albana Series. Each 21 xx 29.5cm Stereoscopic view cards, often referred to as stereoviews or stereographs, are captivating artifacts that offer a unique glimpse into the past. These cards, popularized in the 19th and early 20th centuries, utilise the principles of binocular vision to create a three-dimensional effect when viewed through a stereoscope. Each stereoview consists of two nearly identical images, taken from slightly different perspectives to mimic the way human eyes perceive depth. When viewed through a stereoscope, these images converge, producing a striking illusion of depth and immersion.
