Description

A black celluloid stand-up phone from the Watch Office Control Tower of the famed RAF Scampton air base, 11.5 in. tall with a 5.25 dia. base and with a cotton-wrapped cord. It was used at Scampton throughout the war years and enabled ground controllers to communicate with aircraft together with Morse code: noted as such on a museum tag bearing the insignia of the RAF at the top. This phone may have been used during the historic Dambusters Raid in May 1943! The top screw attaching the earpiece is marked 'AK 13 235'. The base bears rust and other signs of age, overall good.
