Description
An Iron Cross, Second Class with suspension ring, the original black finish badly chipped and damaged and bearing the appearance of having been badly scorched. The suspension ring bears an indistinguishable mark. The medal comes with a printed note indicating that the piece was recovered in Dresden. In a riker mount. In four raids between 13 and 15 February 1945, 772 heavy bombers of the RAF and 527 of the USAAF dropped more than 3,900 tons of high-explosive bombs and incendiary devices on the city. The bombing and the resulting firestorm destroyed more than 1,600 acres of the city center and up to 25,000 people were killed.
