A group of three S.P.s of acclaimed German soldiers, includes: HUGO PRIMOZIC (1914 – 1996) German Sturmgeschutz (assault gun) ace and the first noncommissioned officer in the history of the German Army to be awarded the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves. Fine S.P., 4 x 6 in., sepia, a real-photo postcard in uniform, signed at left. WITH: KARL FRIEDRICH MERTEN (1905-1993) German U-boat commander during World War II, credited with the sinking of 27 ships for a total of 170,151 gross register tons. Awarded the Knights Cross with Oak Leaves. S.P. 4 x 6 in. b/w, shows Merten in uniform and signed across image. Fair contrast. WITH: HERBERT WITTMANN (1914-2007) Decorated ‘Legion Condor’ Luftwaffe ace, a Knights Cross with Oak Leaves winner. S.P. 3.5 x 5.5 in. b/w, a head and shoulders portrait signed at middle with additional notations on verso, possibly in his hand. Three pieces.
