Description
A partly printed D.S. in Cyrillic containing a great collection of signatures of Soviet generals, 3pp. 4to., Moscow, January 8, 1950, a military attestation of Colonel Alexander Sergyenko. Signing at the bottom of the second page as Commander of the Kiev district is ANDREY GRECHKO (1903-1976), in which he notes: 'Tactical preparedness is weak, exercises are carried out very rarely and on low level. Very sloppy attitude to service, he cares more about his personal affairs. Must be sent to study courses of commanders of divisions and to pay attention on more responsible attitude to work.' Signing the top of the third page in blue pen is SEMIEN BUDYONNY (1883-1973) Marshal of the Soviet Union and close political ally of Stalin, one of only two Generals to survive Stalin's Great Purge of Russian Army Generals in 1937. Below him are the signatures of seven other generals including FRANZ PERKHOROVICH (1894-1961), GLEB BAKLANOV (1910-1976), VASILY MOROZOV (1897-1957), ANATOLI GRYZLOV (1904-1976), VASILY DANILOV (1900-1966), NIKOLAI BOGDANOV (1899-1980), and one other unidentified signature. Toned with moderate edge wear and scattered stains.
