American Waltham Watch Co., Waltham, Mass., a Civil War era "P.S. Bartlett" pocket watch, 18 size, 11 jewels, key wind and set gilt plate movement with lever escapement and steel balance in a 4 oz. coin silver hunting case with engraved cartouche on front cover, roman numeral white enamel dial signed "American Watch Co." with blued steel spade hands, serial #26839
Condition
CASE: Dings and a few minor dents; One larger dent that has been pushed out; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Fine scratches on cuvette; One hinge plug absent; Bow replaced; Pusher cap an incorrect replacement; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Very good. HANDS: Replaced; Minute short. MOVEMENT PLATES: Fine scratches on plate; Spotting and staining; Losses to gilding; Balance with specks of oxide; Case screw replaced; One bridge screw with oxide; Balance cock screw with minor losses to blue; Winding arbor with rust. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks); Would benefit from service, circa 1860
