Wes Wilson "The Beard" by Michael McClure Original Poster, This poster is for the controversial 1970 play "The Beard", that told the story of a confrontation between Jean Harlow and Billy the Kid and ended with the lead actor and actress performing an explicit sexual act on stage. "The Beard" only ran one time at San Francisco's The Fillmore before moving to a different venue, where it was shut down by police at the end of its third showing. The lead actors were arrested for obscenity, until an eventual court case that ruled in favor of the play being protected as artistic expression. Because this play was only performed one time at The Fillmore, this poster is in limited supply. It is in excellent condition and mounted on black matting.
