Composition with ship in the centre:
The canvas has been lined.

There is rubbing to the left framing edge.

There are some fine lines of craquelure throughout, mainly visible in the sky.

Spots of surface dirt are scattered across the composition.

UV light reveals spots of retouching scattered across the sky with more condensed spots of retouching in the left and right framing edges.


Composition with building on the shoreline:
The canvas has been lined.

There are a few fine line of craquelure in areas throughout the sky.

There is a tiny chip to the paint surface in the centre right of the sky.

Spots of surface dirt are visible throughout.

UV light reveals areas of retouching throughout the left of the sky with some heavier retouching to the left framing edge. There is further spots of retouching to the right framing edge, however, these are more minor. There is a small area in the lower left of the sea that fluoresces.
