A rare Leica 1 purchased by Christian Nissan of Gunnar Vaenerberg, the oldest Leitz agency outside German, 1925 later modified to a Leica 2 in the 1930's,
serial number 452, with Elmax 50mm f/3.5 lens, coupled rangefinder, together with Leica M2 body, serial number 1114356, engraved on the back plate Omistaja Oy Christian Nissen AB Agaresold together with a copy of the Leitz sales ledger listing no. 452 and a copy of the ledger whne modified, a copy of Leica Info detailing the history of this Leica 1 and a copy of the Leitz publication 'Oskar Barnack Centenary' (qty)

Christian Nissen, came from a family of opticians and in 1891 he established his own business in Helsinki handling eyeglasses, barometers, thermometers and binoculars and microscopes made by Ernest Leitz in Wetzlar.
The business was subsequently taken over by Nissen's brother in law, Gunner Vaenerberg, who quickly expanded the companies product range and turned the business into a flourishing enterprise.
With the introduction of the Leica 1 in 1925, the Nissen company was able to add a significant new product to its range. So successful was Helsinki agency that Ernst Leitz II dedicated this Leica No. 452 to Vaenerberg.
