CIRCA 1831-1873, VARIOUS BLUE AND IRON-RED STENCILED DATE AND CHATEAU MARKS, VARIOUS INCISED MARKS

Details

The following pieces from a service made for King Louis-Philippe for use at Château de Saint-Cloud and Château de Compiègne in 1830s and 1840s, with gilt palmettes at the rims:
Two flaring reticulated fruit baskets
Two graduated compotes on short feet
Four low footed dishes
Fifty-eight dinner plates
Twelve dinner plates with a differing central gilt medallion, possibly from the same service
Five fluted ice-cream plates (patelles à glace cannelées)
An ecuelle, cover, and stand (ècuelle Boizot de 1818 anses bottes)
Two graduated bowls on low feet
Eight navette-form dishes (bateaux forme navette)
An oval serving dish
Three large water jugs and covers (pot à dècoction)
An ewer
Two graduated teapots and covers
A sugar-bowl and cover with lion mask handles (pot à sucre Pestum)
Four sugar-bowls and covers with loop handles
A small sugar-bowl and cover with loop handles
Two large milk jugs (pot à lait Pestum)
A smaller cream-jug
Eight breakfast cups and saucers (tasses à thé Coupe)
A small salt in the form of a saucepan
The remainder similarly decorated, most with a wide band of gilt palmettes at the rim that match the above but later in date, comprising:
An ecuelle, cover, and stand (ècuelle Boizot de 1818 anses bottes)
Two graduated bowls on higher feet
Three compotes on high feet
Fifteen dinner plates
A smaller jug and cover
A large milk-jug (pot à lait Pestum)
Two smaller cream-jugs
Ten coffee-cups (tasses forme Litron) with eleven matching Sèvres style saucers
Two teacups and saucers (tasses à thé Coupe)
Together with the following similar ‘bleu agate’ pieces:
An earlier Sèvres footed bowl with gilt bellflowers at the rim
A modern Sèvres monogramed plate
A modern Sèvres with matching gilt palmettes at the rim and gilt flower sprigs to the center, comprising:
Twelve dinner plates
Two smaller dinner plates
Twelve dessert plates
A Sèvres style service in a matching pattern but with spurious date marks for 1846, comprising:
Eighteen soup plates
Two smaller dinner plates
Ten demitasse cups and eleven saucers

Lot Essay

The 'Service de la Table du Roi' was created for Louis Philippe for use at Château de Saint-Cloud and Château de Compiègne, with additional pieces added through the 1830s and 40s. Two reticulated baskets are now in the collection of the Château de Compiègne. For a further discussion of the service, see B. A part coffee service from the 'Service de la Table du Roi' was sold from the Collection Juan de Beustegui, Christie's, Paris, 10 September 2018, lot 51.
