Description
A 19th century oil on canvas seascape attributed to James Edward Buttersworth, British, 1817-1894. Depicts a "Frigate Entering the West Indian Harbor". Unsigned, attributed to Buttersworth and titled in 1972 invoice from "Stair & Company Inc." in New York. Canvas lined, some surface grunge and minor toning, slight craquelure. Image 16 x 12 1/2" high, in a Gilded wood frame with some wear, 18 1/2 x 22 1/2" high overall. ESTIMATE $600-800
