Introduced in 1898 the Columbia As coin op cylinder phonograph was the forerunner of the juke boxes. Introduced to the market at $35.00 the AS quickly became popular among saloons, arcades,and tobacco stores. For 5 cents people could hear someone sing them a song, tell them a joke, or hear a hear the latest popular songs played by famous bands and orchestras. This machine has the original finish oak cabinet and banner decal on front, original glass, the mechanism accepts a nickel, it winds, plays well, and resets. Side coin box has the lock (unlocked) but is missing the key. Front door lock is missing. The side lock to lift the upper lid to change the record and service the mech is present with key. Comes with a solid brass horn. Missing the small oak marquee that mounts in the holes on the top of the cabinet. Measures 15" wide, 9" deep, 12" tall.
