Robert Swain Gifford

Titled "A Woodland Pasture," depicts two cows beneath a tree on a dirt path. Gifford studied under Albert Van Beest before opening a studio in Boston where his subjects consisted mainly of marine paintings. Gifford was a founding member of the American Society of Painters in Watercolors and was an elected associate of the National Academy of Design.
Etching on paper,Image area 7 1/2" x 12".Frame 17" x 20 1/2"
Signed "R. Swain Gifford" in pencil lower right margin.
From the collection of a Cranston, Rhode Island estate.
