"Williamson and Frazetta's only collaborative EC science fiction cover used a technique seen fairly often in comic books then, one that's since become an economically unfeasible, neglected art... the system of working with color as an integral part of the cover illustration, as opposed to adding color to a black and white line drawing. Illustrators' concepts were executed by skilled technical craftsmen, artists in their own right, at the engraving plant.... Issue #21's cover features modeled color forming the background mountains, volcano smoke and part of the monster's tentacle and tail, all without inked outlines." – Bill Spicer, Weird Fantasy Vol. 4. Russ Cochran: 1980.______________________________________________________________
