Automobile. Oldsmobile's Toronado line was launched with a big PR push in 1966. It was something all new in the industry...well, sort of. The legendary front wheel drive Cord halted production in 1937. That was the last year for a FWD American car until the new Front Wheel Drive Toronado rolled into the market place in 1966. The Toronado won the 1966 Motor Trend Car of the Year Award in the U.S., and placed third in the 1966 European Car of the Year contest. The Toronado originally came standard with a 425 cubic inch Rocket V8. It was connected to three-speed automatic transmission. In 1983 Oldsmobile built 39,600 Toronados, just a bit over 4% of their production. So they're scarce. Power train had been improved to be more compact & economical. In 1983 they came with a standard 4.1L or 250ci V6 engine rated at 125hp and a 4-speed automatic transmission. This Toronado survivor is pretty much a one owner car w/98,985 miles. Purchased new in 1983 by current owner's mother, it's a 2-door w/Brougham trim. Body is in Good cond w/no reports of damage. Car starts but has not been driven. It's been garaged since 2000.
