TITLE: Unusual 19th C Adaptation of the Louis XVI Boulle tradition Desk / Table and More
MEDIUM: Inlaid Kingwood
CIRCA: Late 19C.
ATTRIBUTION: France
DESCRIPTION: The subject item is a small antique dressing table and convertible desk made as a 19C adaptation of the Louis XVI Boulle tradition of fine furniture. Louis XVI style fluted, straight legs support an elaborately inlaid desk frame fronted with a single, full width drawer set with a key escutcheon and key. The drawer can be pulled out to reveal a mirrored panel with divided and sliding compartments. The writing surface has been centered with an elaborately inlaid garden urn design and each corner with a scrolled flourish. The skirt is framed with bronze, and the drawer front is also inlaid.
CONDITION: Expected use wear and natural rich patina.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Do not clean with any liquid product.
