An evocative painting by William Wallick, depicting a Native American from the waist up dressed in a sizable, feathered headdress and carrying a spear. Adorned with face paint, the figure is dressed in a beaded collar necklace, an armband, and a multi-layered, beaded chest piece. The dark-eyed figure faces forward, confronting the viewer, his stern visage comprised of naturalistic eyes, a broad nose, closed lips, and a clefted chin. The blurred gradient of the background helps to highlight the meticulous detail Wallick has employed in depicting this enigmatic figure.
