A monumental carved camphor wood laughing Buddha figure or Budai. 8ft tall x 34in wide x 21in deep. Provenance: from the restaurant and private collections of Margaret and Warren Kuo, renowned Philadelphia-area restauranteurs, business owners, and philanthropists. This piece was commissioned by Mr. Kuo in 1967 to highlight the grand opening of his import business, Pearl of the East.
