Willafred Bercry was the wife of American artist Malcolm Humphreys (1892-1963). Both Malcolm and Willafred (known as Billy) were noted socialites and supporters of the local art scene. They maintained statuses in numerous art groups, and residences in both the United States and Concarneau, Brittany, France, where this work was painted.
