Description
A German pair of Victorian miniature cannons in the style of Michel Mann, 19th centuryThe miniature cannons finely wrought in brass and iron. Slightly conical barrels, segmented by lavish bands, with reinforced muzzles. Smooth bores in 9.5 mm calibre. The handles shaped like volutes and attached separately, the vent holes with a movable iron covering. Brass carriages, each holding a container with a hinged lid. Iron spoke wheels. Length of each 21.5 cm.The cannons correspond exactly to the type of miniature cannons made by Michel Mann (documented from 1589 until approx. 1630, active in Augsburg and in Wöhrd near Nuremberg). Nonetheless, these cannons are approximately 30% larger than the famous models by Michel Mann and are thought to have been made during the 19th century.Condition: I - II
